Dr Rachael Isphording
Bio
Rachael (she/her) is a climate scientist with a devoted "science for society" ethos. Her current work focuses on benchmarking weather resources in climate models with an emphasis on wind characteristics relevant to renewable energy. Rachael recently completed her PhD at UNSW, where she designed a framework to benchmark high-resolution rainfall simulations and tested its efficacy in improving stakeholder use of downscaled hydroclimate projections. She’s passionate about science communication, co-designing actionable climate information and supporting climate adaptation through robust, stakeholder-informed science. Outside of research, Rachael enjoys slow mornings, aimlessly wandering in the sunshine, Millenial pop-culture, and cute dogs.
