A/Prof Paul Spence
Bio
Associate Professor Paul Spence completed his PhD at the School of Earth and Ocean Science, University of Victoria, BC, Canada in 2009. It focussed on numerical modelling of the ocean’s overturning circulation at different resolutions. He then held postdoctoral researcher, DECRA and Future Fellowship roles at UNSW SYDNEY from 2009-2020. Since 2021 he has worked at the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies, University of Tasmania. The central theme of his research is geophysical fluid dynamics with a focus on the ocean’s role in global climate. He am especially interested in dynamics of the Southern Ocean and Antarctic margins.
