Dr Mathew Lipson

Bio

Mathew is a Senior Research Fellow for 21st Century Weather where he leads the Centre’s land model development program. Mat has worked at the Bureau of Meteorology, UNSW, Reading University (UK), and in a previous career as an architect. He has research experience with high-resolution regional modelling (300 m – 1.5 km), with a focus over cities. He has led and coordinated international model evaluation projects, observational synthesis projects and developing new land cover input datasets. In his PhD he extended the capabilities of an urban climate model to represent interactions between energy demand, human behaviours and urban climate.
