Jiaxin Shi

Bio

Jiaxin is a PhD student in IMAS, University of Tasmania. She started her major marine science in Ocean University of China in 2018 and continued in IMAS in 2020 on the 2+2 corporation between UTAS and OUC. She completed her Bachelor of Marine and Antarctic Science (with Honours) from UTAS in 2022. Jiaxin holds great interest in oceanography research. Her Honours thesis is Marine heatwaves around Tasmania and their association with Pacific Oyster Mortality Syndrome and she was granted the first-class Honours. Then she started her PhD program in Sep, 2022 and is studying the interdisciplinary research of Marine heatwave (MHW) and impacts on ecology. The aim of her research is to understand the hazards of MHWs and establish a MHW risk framework for foundation ecosystems under warming climate.
