Tony Rafter
Bio
Tony Rafter is a part-time doctoral student at the University of Melbourne, and a Senior Experimental Scientist with CSIRO Environment where he has worked in the field of climate extremes for two decades.
Tony's PhD work is focused on improving our understanding of extreme sub-daily precipitation by examining changes in both observations and climate projections from regional modelling experiments. He has a particular interest in evaluating extreme rainfall in regional model simulations run at spatial resolutions that explicitly resolve or allow convection, and assessing projected changes that they produce against those from models run at coarser resolutions. He is also investigating potential projected changes in rainfall associated with tropical cyclones.
