Paushali Deb

Bio

Paushali Deb is a PhD candidate at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), University of Tasmania, and a member of the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Weather of the 21st Century. Her research focuses on the role of marine heatwaves and subsurface ocean heat storage in driving terrestrial heatwaves and droughts across Western and Southern Australia, with an emphasis on ocean-atmosphere interactions and climate extremes. She holds an MSc in Atmospheric Science from the Central University of Rajasthan, India, and a BSc (Hons) in Physics from Gauhati University. Her research background includes extreme weather events, numerical weather prediction, and aerosol-climate interactions. Prior to joining IMAS, she worked as a Junior Research Fellow at IIT Bombay on drought forecasting and climate model evaluation, and as a project intern at IIT Jodhpur on aerosol-climate sensitivity studies.
